Are you restoring an older sailboat and need to refinish a rail or other metal part? When polishing won't do the trick, powder coating can make an old part look brand new.
For 15 years, starting in 2005, TheSailingChannel been interviewing vendors about marine equipment, new yachts, chartering and all aspects of sailing technology. In this 2006 episode, we visit Atlantic Powder Coating at the Annapolis Sailboat Show to see how this technology is providing tuff, attractive coatings to marine metals. We see metal parts before and after powder coating. Then we tour the company's facility on Maryland's Eastern Shore where we walk through the powder coating process from preparation to final baking in a 400 degree fahrenheit oven. We find out that galvanized anchors can really benefit from powder coating, making their surface slick enough for mud to slide off.
We'll be adding more vendor interviews and yacht reviews from our 15 years of coverage including new segments from this year's show coming in October.
